Well, while i wait for paint to dry i figured i'd blog about yellow. why yellow? yellow is all i know. i hardly stray away from browns and yellows because (besides necrons lololol) thats all i know. Imperial Fist, heart and soul. thats who i am, stubborn as a mule and my fluff is written by a newbie. But in all seriousness why did i pick a yellow chapter? if i had known it was gonna be this hard i would have done crimson fists. i picked it because i thought it was something that was not only gonna stick out but because it was unique, and while looking over at my roughly 2,000 pt army sitting on a table next to me (roughly....its more around 1500) i think damn, it was so worth it.

Yellow is a fear'd color. (yea i've been reading shakespeare thats why its 'd not ed). its proud, regal, and one of the only colors i know that needs a 9 step layering process for the perfect shade. Now theres no way to be perfect, i read flugrim trust me i know (and peeing in it isnt gonna help either[for those of you know know what i'm talking about]) but theres many differant ways to get the yellow you want. say you're going to do an imperial fists army like me. the best way (NOT the fastest let me tell you now) is the 9-step. 9 step is...hang on... is scorched bestial and vermin brown in that order, followed by snakebite leather then iyaden then golden yellow (i do a 2:1 golden iyaden before straight golden). needless to say its a looong process, and its usually best to paint models in squads to do it the quickest but i prefer idividually, more love to go around right? oh, and thats primed black

Another way is to cut it down by 3 paints by priming in white, then starting with snakebite leather. this is a good color if you want a really fruity yellow, more banana than astartes. a similiar is priming black then going with dheneb stone and yellow of your choice.

a bittersweet color to paint, so rewarding yet such a pain in the ass. it takes a dedicated painter, or just a true fanatic, to paint yellow, sweet yellow

Thanks for the tips... I don't paint a lot of yellow or red.... mostly because I am afraid of it... sounds like you nailed it on the head!

Yellow is a big challenge! Congratulations you picked it.

In wh40k i loved the IMPERIAL FIST and i go for it, for easey, using a massive way to paint it... Print in white primer and then tamiya camel yellow, i use glyphon sepia to boost the look... then add the rest! is a good way with a caterpilar yellow.

But is funny how they look against IYANDEN eldars! all yellow but different ones.
