Okay everyone.

We have really been scheming lately and have just finished mapping out our plans for 2010...and we have some ambitious damn plans for the site. We are going to bring some things out of left field that we believe will really get you guys excited. I am proud to welcome genesha back to the dev team so now there are a few of us code monkeys able to work out bugs you guys report and roll out the updates we have been wanting too that we just have not had the manpower to do so.

So just a little overview. You might not know this, but mybattalion.com is so in the red its ridiculous, we do not charge for advertisements, we make maybe 30 cents a day on google ads (since we are not spamming them). Genesha covers the server, I cover the prizes, so all of this is out of our own pockets. This we are fine with, we love doing this, however, we are getting to the point where its time to get serious and open up a can of business whoop ass that other sites have no idea exists. Now to make the moves that we want too its gonna take a bit of cash, not a ton, but we need to get some legal things straight, cover our butts in case bad things happen so our lives can't be destroyed, only mybattalion can.

After that we have to invest in a bit of infrastructure and some components that will allow us to take mybattalion to the next level (more on that when we get closer to the time).

But anyway to get the ball rolling on this we are having a good ole fashioned garage sale. Now you can see this on our shopping menu, if you see anything you like shoot us an email.  We will be updating things on a daily basis, some will be things we don't use, others will be exceptionally well painted mini's there is no telling what you will find.  Now also to be noted no price is final, we want you guys to get in contact with us and haggle it out, if an item isn't moving after a week or so it will be moved to an ebay account, so keep an eye on the list, right now there is just some fantasy up, but I will adding 40k IG this weekend along with some space wolf guard and a few nids.

So if you are interested please purchase from us, this is all donated stuff, we are hoping to raise enough to get the paperwork we need to pushed through so we can really start safely innovating the site.

Again, thank you guys for reading and using the site, it blows my mind what we have accomplished in under a year, and 2010 is going to be one to remember.

Thanks,

-mybattalion team

Well it has been a big week this week...

Our friends over at the black library have just relaunched their website...complete with shopping kart(don't mock my spelling)!! Really though the site is nice and clean, and their offer of print on demand is quite cool, though evidently some of the titles I would like to hunt down are quite in demand yet! Anywho very excited for those guys, they have been great supporters of mybattalion and I wish em all the best!

Check them out on our shopping menu!

Heya!

So while at Toy Stampede picking up prizes for RECON, the Warhammer 40,000 tournament I will be running this weekend, I bought myself a copy of the latest Warhammer 40,000 supplement.

Battle Missions

Now I wasn't sure what to expect from Battle Missions but as someone who runs a war gaming club and tournaments, it struck me as being a handy resource to invest in. As soon as I got home, I gave it a good read and well... I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

So what does Battle Missions give you? Well it contains 3 new missions for each faction (except the chapter specific marine dexes like Dark Angels and Space Wolves and the Inquisitorial dexes which is a bit of a bummer) Most of the missions don't necessarily need to be the armies the mission seems designed for but obviously some missions would work better with the intended participants.

Some of the missions seem like really good fun, Black Crusade is akin to the old Meat Grinder mission with units being recycled back onto the table as soon as they are destroyed as players race to gain the highest body count. However there are also a lot of other missions which just seem very bland or too much like each other. Frankly though it has some good, well presnted missions they aren't anything an enthusiast with a good head on his shoulders couldn't come up with himself. However that in itself highlights a strong point of Battle Missions.

Rather then having to devise and present these things ourselves, in this supplement, Games Workshop is essentially doing the hard work for those of us who simply do not have the time on our hands or the ability to do so. Also in a club environment, I imagine it will be a handy resource for players to tap into.

The background material it provides isn't really worth a mention. There's nothing really new or remarkable about it. Its just there because Games Workshop seems to feel we need to know what a space marine is and how ninja an eldar can be. Nothing we haven't heard before. But it does present some really need special missions in the form of a stream lined version of the old kill team mini game which looks every bit as enjoyable as its predecessor, if maybe a little easier to follow. Also, Line breaker looks good fun, where 3 super heavy tanks aim to smash aside the defending army and destroy the enemy shield generator. Looks like fun, not something that could be taken to seriously but as far as saturday night beer and pizza just for fun stuff goes, it would be great.

Also clash of the heroes would be fantastic fun under the right circumstances, a mission where the only thing that can kill your special character, is another special character. Could be really good fun in that unless your Colonel Straken ends up face to face with the swarm lord...

So at the end of it all, ever the eternal optimist, I think its a reasonable addition to the warhammer 40,000 family, I think it presents us with a useful resource for clubs and a handy piece of inspiration for designing missions and tryinmg something different at tournaments. But, it isn't something I would rush to buy and I certainly wouldn't get a copy if my regular opponents already had... So I guess I'm still not 100% on it... given time and some games with it, maybe it will seem more appealing.

Thanks for reading, Till next time.

Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead

Straight from Games Workshops newsletter:

Gather your tanks and ready your lascannons – in June the pages of White Dwarf magazine and games-workshop.com join forces to bring you a whole new expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead.

Spearhead is a new way to play Warhammer 40,000 that enables you to unleash exciting tank battles and daring breakthrough missions on the table top, bringing the full mechanised fury of the 41st Millennium to bear in your games. June's White Dwarf will contain the main part of the supplement, including new rules, missions and plenty of inspirational hobby advice. Alongside this, games-workshop.com will feature additional material for registered members such as details for how to assemble your Spearhead formations along with even more painting, modelling and collecting tips.

As if a whole new Expansion wasn't exciting enough, it's going to be accompanied by a range of new miniatures including some stunning new plastic kits – more details of these kits, and the Spearhead Expansion, will follow in May's issue of White Dwarf and on games-workshop.com in due time

Here is hoping that GW is going to bring back white dwarf as a supplement to the game, rather than just the picture gallery that it has become.

This came from our anonymous readers out there. Some very very cool terrain looks to be headed our way in april hot off the battle missions book release.  The marine statue has been in the rumor mill for some time, and its very cool to see it actually exists.
